Project Description

Fallin is a mobile app designed to support individuals currently in therapy by offering a private, structured space to reflect before and after sessions. It acts as a digital companion in the emotional growth journey—helping users express their thoughts, prepare questions, and process insights. With features like guided journaling, mood tracking, and session timelines, Fallin encourages users to slow down and reconnect with themselves in a gentle, non-intrusive way. The app prioritizes emotional safety and clarity through thoughtful design, empowering users to gain more from therapy and build stronger self-awareness over time.

My Role

As the designer of Fallin, my role involved creating a space that gently supports individuals going through therapy. I focused on understanding what people often feel before and after their sessions—anxiety, reflection, or even confusion—and built an app that helps users express, organize, and revisit their thoughts. From user research to interface design, I aimed to create a companion that feels private, supportive, and emotionally intelligent. I also explored new design tools like Figma while transitioning from Adobe XD, which helped expand my skills during this project.

The Challenges

One of the main challenges in designing Fallin was creating a space that felt secure yet personal. Therapy is a deeply emotional process, so the design couldn’t feel clinical or cold. I had to balance structure with softness—organizing entries and prompts in a way that guided users, but also left space for emotional flow. Another challenge was how to help users reflect on their sessions without overwhelming them, while also building features that made the experience feel like an extension of their growth, not just a diary app.

The Problem

Many people go into therapy feeling unsure of what to say or how to make the most of their limited time with a therapist. After sessions, they may also struggle to remember what was said or to process their emotions on their own. Traditional note-taking tools often feel impersonal or disorganized. There’s a need for a dedicated, emotionally aware tool that helps individuals prepare for, reflect on, and learn from their therapy sessions in a way that feels natural and supportive.

The Solution

Fallin is a mobile app designed to be a quiet companion in the therapy journey. It offers structured journaling prompts before and after sessions, allowing users to reflect, ask questions, and revisit key insights. The interface is calming and easy to use, and features like optional mood tracking and entry history allow users to notice patterns over time. With Fallin, users gain a sense of continuity between sessions and feel more grounded and emotionally prepared as they navigate personal growth through therapy.
